អំពីអាកាសធាតុនៅប្រទេសកម្ពុជា

Cambodia lies entirely within the tropics in mainland Southeast Asia and has a tropical monsoon climate. The country's main climate driver is the southwest monsoon, which brings a distinct wet season from roughly May to October and a drier season from November to April. Temperatures are high throughout the year across the lowlands and uplands, with only modest variation between seasons. The central lowlands—including the Tonlé Sap basin and the lower Mekong and Bassac floodplains—form a large, bowl-like plain. Most of the population lives in this fertile area, where seasonal flooding and rich sediments support wet-rice agriculture. The Mekong River crosses the country and, together with the Tonlé Sap lake and river system, strongly influences local weather and hydrology. During the wet season, the Tonlé Sap River reverses direction and the lake expands dramatically, storing floodwater that later drains back into the Mekong. The coastal strip along the Gulf of Thailand, from Koh Kong to Kampot and Sihanoukville, receives more rainfall than the interior, especially on western-facing slopes of the Cardamom and Elephant Mountains. Some of these areas get 3,000–5,000 mm of rain per year. The southwest coast is on the eastern fringe of the south-west monsoon, so the wet season there is pronounced and humidity stays high. Inland cities such as Phnom Penh and Siem Reap still see heavy rain in the wet season but have a clearer dry season with lower humidity. Countrywide, average temperatures typically range from the mid-20s °C in the coolest months to the low 30s °C in the hottest. The "cool" season (November–February) can feel relatively comfortable, especially in the north and centre, while March–May is usually the hottest period before the rains break.
